Mission Statement:

Women Photograph advocates for equitable hiring in the visual journalism industry and provides funding, resources, and platforms to help make photojournalism a more sustainable career for a diversity of women and all other gender-marginalized photographers.

Vision and Values:

Visual journalists are tasked with creating an accurate historical record and teaching audiences how to see. Both of these responsibilities require a visual media industry that is as diverse as the communities, people, and topics being covered.

At Women Photograph, we envision a sustainable, global, and diverse industry that centers intersectionality and local voices, champions equity, and embraces parity, especially in an era of unprecedented change in the media landscape. Our vision is a world where women, nonbinary, transgender, gender nonconforming, intersex, and all gender-marginalized visual journalists thrive, shape narratives, and authentically reflect the stories of our global community.

Through our programs we are committed to leveling the playing field and rebalancing power dynamics in order to elevate the work of women and nonbinary visual journalists.

A huge thank you to our sponsors:
