A brown bear waits for salmon at Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park and Preserve. Across the Alaska Peninsula, where tens of millions of salmon come to spawn in creeks and rivers, these coastal brown bears are found in denser congregations than anywhere else on earth.
Acacia Johnson is a photographer, artist and writer from Alaska, focused on human relationships to wilderness. Much of her work explores the Polar Regions, where she has made over 55 expeditions as a photography guide and spent two seasons living with the Inuit on Baffin Island. She calls Scandinavia home when not in the field.
